A Humbling Run With A Surprise
This morning I went for a run, 6 miles was my goal, but my shin was feeling good so I ended up doing 7. About 5 minutes into it I was crossing an intersection with lots of leaves making it impossible to tell where the sidewalk/curb was located. Needless to say, I misjudged where I thought the curb might be, and ended up on all fours in a huge pile of leaves. To make matters worse, there were two older men walking toward me who started chuckling. As I picked myself up to keep going I looked at them and said, "That was a little embarrassing." And one of the men responded, "You're lucky!" and we all went on our way.
Once I got over the fact that I had just fallen down while running I couldn't stop thinking about what he said. Not necessarily being lucky but it made me think a lot about being thankful and that God had kept me from being injured. It was awesome to see how God had arranged that small exchange between us and used it to teach me something. And when I passed the same spot on the return trip I was wondering where those two men were and where the last hour had taken them. I wonder if they told anyone the story of a girl who fell down today.
And then when I got back to my apartment there was a strange boy standing at the bottom of the stairs. After staring in disbelief for several seconds I realized it was Bill!!! That crazy guy drove all the way here in the middle of the night to spend the day with me!!! :) And I'm so glad he did, it was an awesome day. I felt incredibly loved and special!!!!
Now I'm going to eat mint chip ice cream with my roomie!
